Why this site exists
The idea
Three questions, asked of every room, so any two dorms can be compared side by side.
UniArch is a collection of on-campus student rooms from universities around the world. Every room on this site is looked at the same way, so you can compare a dorm in Hong Kong against one in Kazakhstan or the United States and actually see the difference.
Each room gets the same three questions:
- 01What are the good design elements in this room?
- 02What is special in the design?
- 03What could be improved in this design?
The point is not to rank rooms. It is to look closely at how a small space gets used, what the designers got right, and what a student living there would still want changed. Alongside the rooms there is a page of housing costs, so the design can be read next to what it costs to live in.
